Kitchen Staff – $15/hr (30-35 hrs/week)

Our cooks are the backbone of our restaurant. They work on many orders at once, getting them all out as beautifully and as fast as possible for our hungry customers.  As cook, your job is to prepare, cook and season food based on the standards set by our head chef and owner. Cooks will work with other kitchen staff to follow recipes, use commercial grade fryers, grills, ovens and other industrial cooking equipment, measure and weigh ingredients, monitor food for freshness and safety, maintain a clean kitchen and store ingredients properly.

You must be able to follow the direction of our manager and chef. Although we like that you have your own tastes in food, it’s important that you follow our lead when it comes to the recipes and flavors of the food that our customers love so much.

Requirements

  • 6 months or more of Commercial Kitchen Experience: You should have experience working and cooking in a commercial kitchen.
  • Communication Skills: Communication is crucial in a kitchen. You will need to read orders, understand instruction from the head chef, and talk to your fellow cooks to make sure the food is delivered hot and delicious.
  • Customer Service Skills: Customers may have special requests or complaints. Our kitchen is open and our customers can see you. You might need to interact with the customer from time to time. Service with a smile will be necessary.
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Cooking requires great knife skills, proximity to fire and many dangerous elements. A steady hand is very necessary.
  • Sense of Taste and Smell: Knowing when food has gone bad, understanding proper seasoning and what tastes good will help you stand out among most.
  • Stamina: It’s necessary for you to be physically capable to stand and walk. You will need to be able to stand on your feet for long periods and lift heavy objects from storage.
  • Teamwork: Our cooks are part of a team, reporting to the head chef. You will need to be able to work as a team to create a great dining experience for our customers.
  • Must be able to work Thursday- Saturday: We will have you scheduled throughout the week, but you must be able to work Thursday-Saturday each week.
